UK-based supermarket chain Asda is withdrawing its Smart Price Crisps with a 'best before' date of 6 September 2014 because the product contains milk, barley and gluten which are not mentioned on the label.
According to the company, this makes the product a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk (or its constituents) and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley and/or intolerance to gluten.
The product affected by the recall is Asda Smart Price Crisps - Ready Salted Pack size: 12x18g, with Best before' date: 6 September 2014 4163, and Barcode: 505244963806.
The company has urged people who bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk (or its constituents) and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley and/or intolerance to gluten, to not eat it, but to return it to the store of purchase.
Asda has withdrawn the product from sale and will contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the withdrawal. Asda has issued a point-of-sale notice, a copy of which is attached to this alert.
