According to the Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service, Novosibirsk has increased by third the import of exotic fruit, including mango, avocado, dragon fruit, rambutan.
‘Every tenth box in a load is manually inspected. Argentina, Israel, China, South Africa – you never know where the pests and diseases can come from’, - tells Galina Bober, the supervisor.
It is noted that the majority of imported exotic goods do not arouse any concerns. Less than 5% of production is out-of-spec.
