The company, based in Wisconsin, is recalling close 2,191 pounds of chicken and 21 pounds of turkey products.
The possible contamination with trichloro-s-triazinetrione, which is not approved for use in poultry processing, was discovered by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The chemical is used as an industrial disinfectant.
The problem was discovered by FSIS in-plant personnel during routine verification activities.
The various whole and cut chicken and turkey pieces were produced on various dates between 4 May 4 and 11 May 2015.
The products subject to recall bear the establishment number “P-45525” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
FSIS said that neither they or the company have received reports of adverse allergic reactions due to consumption of these products, but anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
