Recently, Meituan Dianping Statistics Research Center issued a report about Chinese crayfish market, which stated that the crayfish market size in China had already reached 100 billion yuan. And per capita consumption in Beijing and Shanghai is the highest one, up to 90 yuan.
The report also shows that the market is still expanding. The merchants doing crayfish business in Q2 only has grown to 17, 670, increasing 33% year on year. On the other hand, the crayfish consumption season is initiated in advance in March this year, based on the attention level of consumers from exclusive crayfish stores or restaurants, which increases 208% during the same month, compared with that in last month. It increases by 165% on the ring growth base. It can be concluded that the annual peak season of consumption is moving to earlier period.
Based on the information in the report, the crayfish franchise store is mainly located in Yangtze River Delta region, in which there are 8, 352 among the 17, 670 franchise stores, accounting for 47% of the total collected in the report. And Jiangsu merchants own 4, 789 stores in the region, topping the whole region, while the store quantity comes similar in Shanghai and Zhejaing, accounting for 10% of the total, 1, 848 an 1, 715 respectively.
With regard to the per capita consumption, Beijing and Shanghai run abreast, whose top index reaches 90 yuan. The per capita consumption in Jiangsu, Guangdong and Zhejiang is also above the national average, 88.5, 86.1 and 85. But the crayfish franchise in Beijing is only half that in Shanghai. However, the demand in Beijing is much higher, which increase by 39% year on year while it’s only 15% in Shanghai. Given the population size, per capita income and other factors, Beijing enjoys a huge market potential.
