Finally, Yangcheng Lake Crab fishing is underway and first batch of crab has already arrived in Hangzhou market at 5 or 6 o’clock this morning.
Because of the high temperature and floods in August and the Mid-Autumn Festival coming in advance, Yangcheng Lake hairy crab was absent from from citizen’s dining during Mid-Autumn Festival. And different sources said that this year’s price would generally go up.
As harvest season launched, E-Commerce tycoons, like Tmall, JD.com etc, are going to fight for crab market.
Actually, the battle has already began in August. Tmall Supermarket and Yiguo.com jointly cooperated with 3 Yangcheng Lake crab suppliers, Yangao, Shuitianxian, and Xiabingxie to pre-purchase 4, 000 mu of waters and launchd presales activity in early September.
Last month, JD.com, together with Yihaodian.com, also became strategic cooperation partner, before whom Shunfen(SF), COFCO, Womai.com also joined the battle. Statistics show that almost 70% of the Yangcheng Lake crab was sold through internet each year.
Overall price to up by more than 30%
According to Fisheries Technology Extension Center of Jiangsu Province, price of big size (125g above female crab, 200g above male crab) and medium size (100g-120g female crab, 150-195g male crab) crab would further go up on the basis of last year’s high price, which might rise by 15% above and hit 10 years record high. As for small size crab, price would go also slightly go up compared with that in last year.
