"Due to rising temperatures earlier this year, the production season of Dalian cherries came 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Harvest started at the beginning of February. Because of the climate, the production of Dalian cherries in mainland China is down by around 50%. The total surface of greenhouse cultivation for the cherries has increased, but here too a small decrease of production was observed," says Mr. Zhang Haihui from Dalian Jinfuhui Fruit Industry.
"The supply from heated and cold greenhouses in the Dalian area continues until the beginning of July. The Dalian cherries that circulate at this time mostly come from the Paotai region. The cherries from Delisi, the best region, are already at the end of supply. In general, the sales price of the cherries on the market has gone up by 30% compared to last year. This is mainly due to the significantly reduced supply on the market."
"We cooperate with all farmers from Dalian for the cultivation of the cherries and have worked out a sales-by-order system. We sell several varieties. At present we mainly join up with supermarkets as a sales channel. A small quantity goes to the wholesale market of Shanghai. In the future, we hope that we can supply our excellent Dalian cherries to all consumers of China through online sales platforms."
