Core Tip: The 2019 Hainan Tropical Fruit Exposition officially opened in Sanya on March 7th, 2019.
The 2019 Hainan Tropical Fruit Exposition officially opened in Sanya on March 7th, 2019. The organizers invited large-scale buyers from the fruit industry and the fruit distribution sector from more than 10 countries to participate in the exposition. More than 100 kinds of tropical fruit were on display. The opening ceremony was followed by a contract-signing ceremony worth 360 million yuan [53 million USD].

The mango production volume in Sanya reached 348 thousand tons in 2018. The mango industry accounts for 40% of the agricultural industry in Sanya. The "Sanya mango" and the "Sanya wax apple" were added to the list of special regional agricultural products on December 13th, 2018.

"Mango summit meeting" provides linkup between production and retail in a backward industry
The main goal of the Tropical Fruit Exposition is to find markets for tropical fruit and attract business investments. The height of this exposition was the summit meeting for the linkup between production and retail of tropical fruit. More than 200 buyers came from all over China to connect with Hainan premium fruit suppliers during the exposition.

Participating buyers included Pagoda, JD Fresh, Tmall Fresh, Yiguo Group, Suning, Benlai Life, Fruit Day, Miss Fresh, RT-Mart, Auchan, and Hema Fresh. The exposition offered buyers and farmers the opportunity to talk without the interference of intermediaries. Buyers purchased for an estimated amount of 500 million yuan [74 million USD].

At the same time, the underdeveloped mango industry had the opportunity to catch international attention. Traders from South Africa, Spain, and Japan joined trade negotiations at the exposition.
