Vancouver, British Columbia-based Premium Brands Holdings Corp. announced this week that it was expanding its operations in the province with a new seafood processing facility and the acquisition of an existing processor.
Premium brands has finished its new seafood facility in nearby Richmond, which will operate under the C2C Premium Seafood brand name. The company also announced its $1.35 million purchase of portions of the Harbour Marine Products company, based in Vancouver. The purchases, according to Premium, include Harbour Marine salmon and high grade tuna sushi processing businesses.
George Paleologou, Premium president and CEO, said the moves are “key steps” in an ongoing plan to expand the company’s platform throughout the U.S.
"The purchased Harbour Marine businesses, which generate annual sales of approximately USD 10 million, and the associated assets and skilled employees will be moved to our new Richmond seafood processing facility,” he said. “This will not only provide the new facility with immediate critical mass but will also position us as one of the leading processors of sushi grade tuna on the west coast of Canada and the U.S. In addition, it will provide our Centennial Foodservice distribution business with proprietary access to very high quality tuna and wild salmon products."
