The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has temporarily banned imports of shrimp from Asia following fears of the spread of Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS).

The Ministerial Agreement No. 008-2013 prohibits imports of live or dead shrimp, frozen, raw, cooked, boiled, shrimp, polychaetes, prebiotic and probiotics to prevent EMS, which is a bacterial disease affecting shrimp.

The agreement aims to coordinate efforts with producers, associations, universities and laboratories, to preserve the health status of the country's fisheries and aquacultur.
