The total value of Iceland’s seafood landings totaled ISK 143.9 billion (USD 1.3 billion, EUR 925 million) through November of 2013, down 4.7 percent compared to ISK 151 billion (USD 1.3 billion, EUR 970 million) for the same time period in 2012.
Total value of demersal species accounted for ISK 85.2 billion (USD 752 million, EUR 547 million), with cod accounting for nearly half at ISK 43.4 billion (USD 383 million, EUR 279 million), down 5.4 percent from 2012.
Haddock accounted for for ISK 11.2 billion (USD 99 million, EUR 72 million) and redfish for ISK 12.7 billion (USD 112 million, EUR 82 million) of the demersal total, down 2.7 percent and 4.9 percent, respectively.
The total value of pelagic species was also down 4.1 percent, accounting for ISK 44.4 billion (USD 392 million, EUR 285 million) and flatfish catches dropped 4.3 percent to 9.3 billion (USD 82 million, EUR 59.7 million).
Iceland’s shellfish catch was up 5 percent compared to 2012 to ISK 4.3 billion (USD 38 million, EUR 27.6 million) with shrimp accounting for ISK 3.5 billion (USD 31 million, EUR 22.5 million).
