Scophthalmus maxima, called as turbot, is well known for its rich nutrition and delicious taste. Affected by the sanctions imposed by European Union, there is a huge demand of aquatic product in Russian aquatic product market which now is facing shortage problem. After Chinese turbot is exported to America, Malaysia and Singapore, it now breaks the Russian market.
In recent years, with the influence of international market, the price of turbot in Chinese domestic drops continuously, from the highest 180-200 yuan/kg to the farming cost price 36 yuan/kg; the situation is even worse in most of the time in 2015 and 2016, in which the price is always under the farming cost price, bring losses to many farming enterprises.
Facing difficult market situations, Liaoning Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has carried out many measures to help the enterprises to break the international market. According to the Russian import requirements and inspection standards toward turbot, the Bureau draws up specific operations and processes to guide the enterprises in the region to improve the quality. Besides, it speeds up the customs clearance and implements other measures to promote the turbot in the region to the market outside.
An official from the Bureau stated that Chinese turbot exported to Russia has advantages both in price and quantity over other products of the same category. And it opens up a new market for turbot farming enterprises in Liaoning province.
