In recent weeks, the price of Chinese mainland eel in Japanese market is relatively stable, but with the Summer coming and the stock shortage, from 27th June the Chinese mainland eel will also rise 200 Yen/kg. The rised price will be 3200 Yen/kg for 3 pound size, 3750 Yen/kg for 4 pound size and 4200 Yen/kg for 5 pound size.
Japan imported 64 tonnes of live eel from Taiwan last week and 90-100 tonnes from Chinese mainland. With the wholesale price increase in Japanese market, the eel procurement price in Taiwan jumps from 630 TWD/kg, 790 TWD/kg and 940 TWD/kg to 740, 940 and 1160 for 3 pound size, 4 pound size and 5 pound size respectively.
