H&B Packing of Texas is recalling about 73,742 pounds of boneless beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O103 bacteria. No confirmed reports of illness have been received to date in connection with the consumption of this item.
The recalled product is 60 pound box containing boneless beef with case code 69029 and production date 03/06/17; they were produced on March 6, 2017. Also recalled is multiple combo bins containing 73,682-lbs of boneless beef with case code 69029 and production date 03/06/17. These products have the establishment number “EST. M13054” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to food manufacturers in Texas.
The problem was discovered when FSIS was notified by the state of Texas’ Meat Safety Assurance Unit about a positive non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) sample. Since clinical labs do not test for this strain, if you do feel sick after eating one of these products, see your doctor and tell her about this recall.
If you purchased these products, do not eat them even if you cook them. Throw them away in a sealed or double bagged package, or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
