On 21 October, the Jiangsu Agricultural Technology Promotion Association, the provincial Horticultural Association with the provincial Seed Industry Association, held the first China Nanjing Vegetable Seed Fair. 547 new vegetable breeds and over 80 new agricultural equipment and technologies from 22 well-known, Chinese agricultural schools, research institutes, and vegetable seed companies were exhibited here.
A representative explains that there are not only many new vegetable varieties at this fair, but also many new breeds of existing vegetables, such as 171 breeds of tomatoes, 146 melons, 222 leafy vegetables, and 8 others. There is an area of 5 hectares available, half for covered breeds, and the other half for open field breeds.
Apart from this exhibition, this fair also works with an app to connect with fruit and vegetable networks and food markets. With the internet, and VR technology, the "online offline" exhibition shows the infinite possibilities in new vegetable breeds, technologies, methods and equipment, to elicit discussion between the research organizations, companies and farmers. The fair will last until 5 November. Citizens from Nanjing can attend for free.
