The Field Operations Division of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority on Thursday closed down Musaffah Electrical Bakery on Khalifa Bin Zayed Street carrying license number 1038138 due to repeated non compliance with food safety rules and regulations. The punitive closure will remain in effect until the mistakes are rectified.

Ahmed Abdul Karim Al Sharaf, Acting Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, said the worst among the violations found at the bakery were inappropriate storing of primary food stuff, lack of proper store room and preservation of cheese products and other foods in levels of temperature that may lead to contamination.

"The overall situation at the bakery was pretty bad due to poor maintenance of the floors, walls, electrical wires and sewage pipes, besides proliferation of insects and fleas. Waste disposal system was in poor condition. Containers used for food preparation were in a shambles.
