Accolade Wines, an Australia-based winery, is all set to make its range of Geyser Peak Californian wines available in the UK off-trade in summer 2013.
Having purchased the Geyer Peak brand in June 2012, Accolade Wines will initially roll out Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot in two major supermarkets in the UK in July 2013.
The company will then launch appellation wines from Geyser Peak's vineyard in Sonoma County in early 2014, and a reserve range in the first quarter of 2014, reported Harpers.
Geyser Peak winemaking director Ondine Chattan was quoted by the website as saying that this is the first instance for the company to change its wine style to suit a particular export market.
"We understand the UK consumer is looking for a little more acidity, and a little more tannin and intensity in their wines than the US wine drinker," Chattan added.
Accolade Wines UK and European head Paul Schaafsma told the website that the Geyser Peak range would be addition to both its existing Californian branded wine range and the Californian category in general.
"We are bringing a brand with 130 years of heritage to the UK," Schaafsma added.
