In the EU, our most important market, the share of fresh seafood is increasing in terms of value and Norwegian salmon is one of the products gaining most ground.”
The value of exports of Norwegian salmon in November totaled NOK 4.1 billion (USD 670 million, EUR 486 million) a 38 percent increase compared to November 2012. This year, the value of exports of Norwegian salmon totaled NOK 35.4 billion (USD 5.8 million, EUR 4.2 million), a 33 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The average price for fresh whole Norwegian salmon in November was NOK 39.02 (USD 6.37, EUR 4.62) per kilogram, compared to NOK 27.12 (USD 4.43, EUR 3.21) per kilogram in November 2012. Exports of Norwegian trout in November increased in value by 35 percent to a total of NOK 250 million (USD 41 million, EUR 30 million). For the year to date, the value of exports of Norwegian trout totaled NOK 2.1 billion (USD 343 million, EUR 249 million).
The value of Norwegian herring exports in November totaled NOK 630 million (USD 103 million, EUR 75 million), down by 4 percent compared to November 2012. This year to date, the value of Norwegian herring exports totaled NOK 2.7 billion (USD 441 million, EUR 320 million), down 28 percent compared to the same period last year.
Mackerel exports in November increased in value by 5 percent. For the year, mackerel exports are down in value to a total of NOK 2.8 billion (USD 457 million, EUR 331 million).
Exports of fresh Norwegian cod, including fillets, fell in value in November to a total of NOK 66 million (USD 11 million, EUR 7.8 million).
November exports of frozen Norwegian cod, including fillets, were up to a total of NOK 206 million (USD 34 million, EUR 24 million).
