The Greek company Katsagiotis, founded in 1981 and devoted to the production, grading, packaging and export of fresh fruit, namely table grapes, is currently looking to expand in new markets. Production Manager Christos Katsagiotis affirms that “We have long-term collaboration with big supermarkets in Europe, but we love the challenge of the new markets, and our next targets are the Netherlands and Russia.”

So far, Katsagiotis has been present in Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Scandinavia and it aims to reach every country in Europe. “The main drive for this expansion is our desire to find clients who can appreciate the quality of the fruit the company produces. The Netherlands is a market that wants quality and we believe we can deliver it,” he assures.

Regarding the prospects for the current campaign, Mr Katsagiotis says they will be able to draw some conclusions in about a month. “We always hope the next year will be better than the last. Last season was tricky, as we had a lot of rain, but we still managed it. This season we expect more favourable conditions.” Last year, Katsagiotos produced a total of 6,000 tonnes of table grapes and the target is to at least maintain this volume.

Katsagiotis is a company that always has an eye on the market and is open to innovations. “We are always on the lookout for new things that can offer us the possibility to have a better product. Two years ago, for example, we built new refrigerating facilities with modern cooling systems. As long as it makes our job easier and our product better, we’ll try to get it,” he affirms.
The firm is also flexible when it comes to meeting the demands of its clients, willing to supply any kind of packaging. In terms of food and labour safety certifications, “We have everything under control and all processes are certified by GlobalG.A.P., IFS and BRC,” he concludes.
