The Market's management team has held several coordination meetings with import companies to ensure the flow of all fruit and veg varieties from the lands of origin (the Levant and the Arab Republic of Egypt) and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in sufficient quantities for this month. Companies have expressed their readiness for this season by increasing the number of inbound shipments and the market management expects the increase in imports via seaports and the Muscat international Airport.
To ensure the arrival of fruits and vegetables to the consumer in the shortest possible time, the market management team has held a meeting with government authorities of the Customs Administration and the Quarantine Office (in the presence of representatives of market traders) to discuss some matters related to the process of clearance and inspection. This resulted in a number of recommendations that should help facilitate the inspection process and speed up the arrival of the products to the market.
