With the shrinking of global trade, the overall foreign trade volume of Henan province in the first half of 2016 is on a declining curve. According to Zhengzhou Customs, the import and export trade value is 179.89 billion yuan, decreasing by 11.4% year on year.

The outside uncertain factors bring big influence on the foreign trade development of Henan province while the the global economic recovery is weak.” But there is continuous growth of foreign trade value in the second quarter of 2016 while the import value continues to grow in four straight months. Overall, the trade status is recovering and optimistic.
It’s known that the value of foreign trade through air transportation reaches 109.77 billion yuan, which accounts for 61% of the overall trade value in the first half of 2016. Airport functions outstandingly, bringing growth of all related business.

The customs in Zhengzhou airport has inspected and managed up to 108, 000 tonnes of imported and exported cargoes in the first half of 2016, increasing by 28.3% year on year, among which the fresh commodities are 2, 304.1 tonnes, worth 65, 000, 000 yuan, 12.1% more than that of the same period in last year.
“The increase of fresh commodities features the growth of imported commodity quantity and category, and the outstanding change of main structure of import market. ” According to Huang Lin, finless eel tops the list of import quantity regarding live animal category, which is 1, 763.2 tonnes, growing by 11.7%. Thereinto, the import of finless eel from Bangladesh only is as high as 1, 060.8 tonnes, accounting 46% of the total imported fresh commodities. Besides, another 21 categories of fresh goods are transported from Zhengzhou and the total category reaches 58. The newly added imported products mainly include shrimp, tropical fruit, frozen meat, live flocks and herds, and parent pigs, among which parent pigs are the largest in number, up to 329.92 tonnes. The new-added exported products include vegetables and live macaque, which is the first time that live animal has been exported to America.
Apart from the rapid growth of trade through airports, Sino-European (Zhengzhou) train has carried out 354 shifts from 18th July, 2013 to 10th Junly, 2016. The transited containers are as many as 29, 202, worth 1.625 billion US dollars. It’s reported that Sino-European train (Zhengzhou) will add more shifts of trains since August this year, ensuring 3 import-bound shifts and 3 export-bound shifts each week.
