NFRA kicks off 2013 Ice Cream & Novelties promotion

Core Tip: The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) announced 24 leading brands are sponsoring this year’s Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties promotion.
The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) announced 24 leading brands are sponsoring this year’s Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties promotion, which includes a retail display contest, a consumer coupon & freezer giveaway and many promotional resources to help reach out to shoppers and increase sales.

The Retail Display Contest encourages retailers to use their creativity to develop merchandising displays during the promotion months and compete for the Golden Penguin Award. The displays will feature sponsoring brands and NFRA point of sale materials, as well as direct consumers to NFRA’s Easy Home Meals website and Facebook page to enter the Coupon and Freezer Giveaway. Display Contest entries are due by Aug. 9, 2013, in order to compete for a Golden Penguin Award, celebrating the best displays for the 2013 Summer Favorites promotion. Winners will be recognized in six regional categories on Oct. 22, 2013 at NFRA’s Annual Convention in San Diego.

The Summer Favorites Coupon & Freezer Giveaway offers consumers unique prize opportunities that will drive more traffic to the ice cream and novelty aisles. Winners are selected every week of the promotion to receive exclusive manufacturers’ coupons for the sponsoring brands, culminating with a Grand Prize drawing for a chest freezer, courtesy of Hussmann.

Through many PR and social media outlets, NFRA will promote the giveaway and deliver key messaging about ice cream and novelties to consumers on www.EasyHomeMeals.com, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube, as well as through NFRA’s Cool Bites consumer e-newsletter. Additionally, ice cream and novelties will be the focus of a television spot in July from Mr. Food’s Test Kitchen that will broadcast to 4 million households. The Mr. Food website and newsletters provide additional exposure to millions of visitors and subscribers.

The promotions sponsoring brands are Edy’s Slow Churned, Edy’s Fruit Bars, Skinny Cow, Kemps, Lindy’s, Active D’Lites, Front Porch Carolina Churned Ice Cream, Graeter’s, Breyers, Haagen-Dazs, Nestlé Drumstick, SnoBlitz, IttiBitz, Fat Boy, Blue Bunny Champ!, Blue Bunny Bomb Pop, Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom, Ciao Bella, Klondike, Popsicle, Magnum, Fruttare, Good Humor and Ben & Jerry’s.
